It’s official folks, we are now part of a bigger company. After 5.5 years of running WHOISCARRUS I have decided to take the plunge and team up with 2 other individuals to form 1 full service creative firm. TIMBER! consist of Eclyptic Media, 2 Up Media, and myself WHOISCARRUS. The company was the mixture of 3 creative guys that actually managed to get along in the same room together due to the fact that none of us did the same thing. I know it’s a short story, but I must admit it’s much better to tell it in person. If I work with you already I’ll be having a personal conversation with each and everyone one of you about the new company to make sure you know about all the cool things we can offer. If you are reading this on the blog then I am amazed you are actually reading my blog. So that is the major scoop of the hour. If you’d like more details feel free to hit me up and I’d be glad to share all the cool things we can do with you. Look forward to hearing from you!

Hey its Gabby again. I just got done working on a DVD Menu for Thoughts Become Things a few days ago. Everyone thought the menus came out great and now it’s just up to the client to chose which version he likes better. When I started working on the menu Jeremy told me to just be creative and gave me a list of what needed to be on the DVD Menu like a deleted scenes section and an audio section. After that he left me alone and I got to work.

I did the design in Photoshop and just started with the main menu screen. I got ideas from the DVD Case that Jeremy had made and the Mood Board for Thoughts Become Things. The feel of the DVD is like a old travel/ worldly/ hand made concept so I had to keep it within those terms. At the end of the day Jeremy was looking at my design and saying that he liked it and he was telling me changes to make when Phil reminds Jeremy about some effect for the Menu that they were going to do. That meant that I had to make another version for the client to see and I wasn’t that happy about it because I liked my original design.

I ended up making the second version the next morning and the second version turned out better than I had expected. The client saw them that morning and couldn’t decide which one he liked better which I think is a good thing. I don’t know which version were going to use but either way the DVD Menu for Thoughts Become Things looks great. I learned that even though I didn’t want to budge and change my design that you will have to sometimes to please the client and I ended up doing just that.

Hey this is Gabby and this is my first time blogging. I’m Jeremys amazing intern (his words) and he lets me be creative and basically gives me an assignment and I get to design the pages. It’s actually pretty cool and one of my most recent web pages is this Vidalia Onion Brochure. The client wanted us to add on to their website and put a new category under their recipe section. Jeremy gave the task to me and I was off.

The first thing I did was design the document in Photoshop, which I already knew how to work in Photoshop so it wasn’t that hard for me to come up with the layout. The way the process usually works is I show Jeremy my ideas and if he approves of them then I get to put them in Dreamweaver. Now Dreamweaver is something that I am just starting to learn. My first time using it was around a month ago and I’ve been catching on pretty quickly. I know all of the basics but Jeremy has to explain how to put the pages into Dreamweaver because every time I use Dreamweaver I’m doing something different. He will tell me things like how to make all of my pictures links or how to make their up and down “states” a different color. I also just started using CSS, and XHTML. It was pretty tricky at first but I think I am catching on to how it all works now.

Once Jeremy tells me all that I need to know I just replicate what he’s done and the pages just start coming together. The most exciting part is putting the pages up on the server and then going to the site and actually seeing your work on the web. I think I’m most proud of my Vidalia Onions Brochure Recipes site out of all of the work that I’ve done so far.

Here’s a link to see what I did. http://www.vidaliaonion.org/vidalia-onion-brochure-recipes.php

Looking forward to more future blogs, and learning more fun Interactive stuff!

June 2009- WHOISCARRUS will attend the 18th Annual “How Design Conference” in Austin, TX. The Conference will be held June 24th through the 27th and feature over 45 guest speakers that will discuss all of the most recent advancements in creative design. The conference is designed to be an educational program that will “enable designers to better balance the three key components of graphic design: creativity, business and technology.” While trying to stay on the cutting edge of graphic design, WHOISCARRUS will also have its creative portfolio reviewed. Hopefully the reviewers will take it easy on us. ;-) For more info check out www.howconference.com

With the help of WHOISCARRUS, Entech Creative Industries launches its new and improved website. The company approached WHOISCARRUS in October 2008, to revamp and update their site. Through intensive collaboration and shared creativity, WHOISCARRUS used elegant web design to help take Entech Creative Industries to the next level. The company now has a visually dynamic website that integrates text and images beautifully. The new site is very user-friendly and is easy for both consumers to navigate and Entech to update. WHOISCARRUS used its series of well-planned steps to give the website the look of a national company. Check out the site here.
